Beauty Swap: Jan/Feb Beauty Swap Link Up

It is time for another Beauty Swap Link Up! I am proud to say that we had more than 50 ladies sign up for the swap. I was very glad to have Miss Courtney Nolz of Cowgirl Crush helping me out. Part one of the Beauty Swap was to send a box full of goodies to your partner and part two is to review your box.

I was very lucky to be signed up with Ashley Kennedy of Michigan. Her family has a dairy farm and she also has a great blog, Dairy Innovation. I love this recent post of her's on their bathroom remodel.

Ashley and I talked about how I have been wanting to try more masks and she sent a great one in my box.

Ashley is a big Ulta (similar to Sephora) shopper and sent me a whole box of goodies from there. I am loving this Deep Down Detox Mask. I have been using it once a week and my skin definitely feels firmer. It also smells great, which it seems like this isn't always the case with masks.

The other product that is really fun is the Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre Shimmering Top Coat. It has been hard to take a picture to show the effect of this, but one little drop on my finger and then a dab on my eye creates this really cool metallic shimmer effect to any eyeshadow. You can also go over your eyeliner with this top coat to give more of a shimmer effect. You only need a little so I have a feeling this bottle is going to last me a long time.

I also had another beauty box arrive from Mary Kay lady KC Kinder. KC sent me a great Mary Kay lip gloss to try. I usually don't wear lip gloss to often because I find it doesn't last as long as lipstick. However, this stuff last and it moisturizing which is perfect for these winter months. I'm a really bad lip biter so my lips are usually really chapped. KC is going to give away one Mary Kay lip gloss to one of the Crystal Cattle readers. All you have to do is link up your Beauty Swap blog post and/or leave a comment below with what Mary Kay lip gloss color you would choose. And be sure to visit KC's Mary Kay page if you are needing any new products. I will draw for a winner on Feb. 24, 2014. (Congrats to Cow Camp Craziness you are the Mary Kay Lip Gloss winner!)

Now for the question everyone is asking... when are you having the next swap. Keep an eye on the blog for an announcement the end of March.

  2. I love ULTA too! I will have to try out that mask, it sounds great! (My favorite things to buy from ULTA are their travel size goodies - it's so nice to be able to travel with "good" products, and take them through security saving the $25 bag fee.)

  4. Since I don't have a blog, I'll share about my beauty swap box here! I was paired with Kara Lee and had so much fun getting to know more about her! Kara and I have a lot in common, and actually had met a few years ago while I was an intern with Certified Angus Beef (where she works). Kara is an Indiana girl transplanted to Kansas, and I am a Kansas girl transplanted to Illinois. We both got married last summer, so we had fun talking about all the big changes we've had in or lives! Kara sent me the MOST AMAZING beauty swap box….for real ladies. She went above and beyond, making even the box she sent the products in absolutely beautiful. (If you don't believe me, follow me on Instagram @jenlhummel and check it out for yourselves!) I haven't tired everything Kara sent yet, but I'll tell you quickly about a couple of my favorites. First is an Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion. It is AMAZING. This product is first and foremost a fantastic eye primer, but for those days when you just don't have the time/energy to spend putting on 3 different layers/shades of eyeshadow, this stuff is fabulous on it's own. The color is called Sin, and it's this gorgeous, shimmery champaign color. I actually wore it for my Valentines date with my hubby the day after I got it! She also sent me a great curl defining cream from Moroccan Oil. For you curly haired girls out there, you know how difficult those locks can be, especially with changes in the weather! I love the Moroccan line, but hadn't tried this particular product…pretty sure it's a keeper! I also got some great Mary Kay products, including three eyeshadows, a blush, and an awesome compact that all of them fit in! Kara also sent me a Revlon Colorburst matte balm that I'm excited to try! Thanks again to Crystal and Courtney for hosting the second beauty swap -- definitely looking forward to the third one!!

  7. I swapped with Melanie from The Traveling Cowgirl (http://thetravelingcowgirl.blogspot.com/) and was treated to a FANTASTIC box. I have loved everything! You can see a photo of the complete box on IG at @lscheller. Here are some of my favorites so far:
Two Faced Tinted Beauty Balm: a moisturizing sunscreen with a tint. I've used it in place of foundation and love it! Just enough tint to smooth out color.
Bite Lip Pencil in Bramble: I think my lipstick woes have been solved. It is a high pigment lip pencil but really has the moisture of a glossy lipstick. I'm hooked! I can't wait to get more colors.
EOS lip balm: I've seen girls with this cute, ball of a lip balm/chap stick and was excited to try it. Two thumbs up!

Thank you Crystal and Courtney for hosting the Beauty Swap!
