PETA and HSUS and Rick Santorum

The power of social media

I posted this note about Rick Santorum on my Facebook page earlier this week, and now wanted to share on my blog. It has been shared nearly a 100 times on Facebook, and I encourage you to click on the link and share with your friends if you feel passionately about this as well.

I don't get to vote yet, but I sure have heard a lot about Iowa politics the past few months. I think there are a positives and negatives in a lot of the Republican candiates, however supporting HSUS would definitely scratch you off my list.

"Jan Swan Wood, columnist in Tri-State Livestock News told readers that have friends in Iowa to be careful who they vote for in the primaries. Rick Santorum, (R-PA) supports PETA and HSUS. Both of those animal rights organizations love him, too. The animal rights political action committee, HumaneUSA, gave $5,00 to Santroum's 2006 re-election bid and has promised to campaign aggressively for him in a presidential big. HSUS's President and CEO, Wayne Pacelle, has nothing but praise for Santorum as well."

Thanks Jennifer Carrico for sharing. And if you have Iowa friends, feel free to share.

Update: Check out this blog to find out which Senate and House members support HSUS.

  2. I am going to do more research on this because he is also supported be the National Riffle Association and on his website is listed as an avid supporter of the 2nd Ammendment. Those two things clash with supporting HSUS and PETA so I'll be doing some digging.

  4. Nope. Anyone that shows even the slightest, most remote, even a teensy, weensy sliver of support for these organizations can forget about my vote.

  5. So now I hope he is not the Republican nominee, because this is too big a negative for me to support.

Yet I can't have four more years of Obama...

  6. the 2nd amendment support is not a conflict in the slightest, the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting or shooting sports. Looking at the hsus list of 'supporters' in congress as judged by their votes was a pretty disingenuous, a majority backed cutting subsidies to a ceiling and a vote against was considered 'anti-animal' when in likelihood the very large operations collecting subsidy $'s were grain growing. Not prepared to throw out Santorum based on some pretty minimal financial support, given the current economic climate it is highly unlikely he would back legislation that inhibited growth in any sector, including Ag.

    1. He supports PETA..that is enough for me! PETA is a crazy, crazy, radical group of people who if they could would have all dogs, cats, pets, released to run wild - unvaccinated, in packs, etc. They are as stupid about animals as the liberals are about using bogus environmental issues to further their radical liberal agendas. PETA once threatened to come into a convention center where a dog show was being held and poison all the show dogs. They felt dog shows are cruel to the dogs. Little do they know that the dogs LOVE to be at dog shows! Show dogs are better cared for than many people on this earth - including their owners. PETA thinks that because they are vegetarians, everyone should be.

    2. He doesn't support PETA or HSUS, he legislated against puppy mills and they supported Santorum for it. Why do you people not see this??? Prove it that he supports them. Obama got rid of Bin Laden which I support...does that mean I support Obama??? NO! Come on people, get your head in the game.

  7. Update.

My hubby did a search and said all he could find was that Santorum supported the Humane Society.
We will be looking into this further for sure.

  8. Beware of the Humane Society of the United States and PETA's "Enforcer"
Their Candidate RICK SANTORUM is on the Iowa Primary Ballot for the Republican Nomination.
Be Alert as to his ANIMAL RIGHTS AGENDA. They want all Animal Husbandry Stopped!
Here are a couple of links showing SANTORUM is in with H$U$ and PETA .

  9. PETA should know Rick went hunting in Iowa with a supporter of dog fighting to endear himself to certain voters. Not someone I'd want in the White House.
